Himalayan Salt Lamp

You’ve probably seen one somewhere. On a friend’s bedside table, in a spa waiting room, or glowing in the corner of a café that had the lights turned down a bit too low. A few years ago, you’d mostly find salt lamps in health shops. Now they’re in homes, hotels, and gift stores just about everywhere.
We’re Pace Global Trade, and we supply them from Pakistan, right where the salt comes from. We’ve been in this trade for 3 years, and we’ve learned what customers actually want from these lamps. So here’s the straight story, from people who handle them every day.
What Is the Salt Lamp?
Ok, what exactly is a salt lamp? Take a look past the advertising, and you’ll find it’s a lump of rock salt carved out for a little bulb in the middle. Turn it on, and the light passes through the crystal, creating that light pinkish-orange glow that people really like.
For the most part, these lamps are mined from the Khewra Salt Mine in Punjab, Pakistan. This is one of the oldest and also largest salt mines on this planet. The only thing is that Khewra is actually not located in the Himalayas but in the Salt Range. However, the “Himalayan” term gained popularity decades ago and stuck forever. The color originates from the salt’s trapped minerals, mainly iron oxide, giving the pink shade.
In our opinion, being from nearby Pakistan gives us the benefit of selecting high-quality salt directly at the mining areas. We witness the rough salt blocks, manage their cutting and polishing, and inspect all items prior to box packing. With direct trade, we don’t have the hassle of lengthy supply chains and middlemen, and there is none of the uncertainty concerning the product’s provenance.
Sellers are not very consistent either with the way they label things. Some products go under “rock salt lamp”, others are just “rock lamp”, and the third option is “Himalayan pink salt lamp”. Generally, it’s the latter when the color plays the biggest role. If by typing in “lamp salt rock” you have landed on this very page, congrats, you’ve got a great spot! It’s all the same thing, and we offer the full range of variations.
What Does a Salt Lamp Do?
This is where we’ll be more honest than most product pages.
You’ve probably heard the usual pitch. The bulb warms the salt, the salt gives off negative ions, and those ions clean the air, cut allergens, lift your mood, and help you sleep. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
The trouble is, it doesn’t really work like that. A small block of salt warmed by a 15-watt bulb doesn’t put out enough negative ions to matter. When people have tested these lamps, the ion levels were close to nothing. Salt does pull moisture from the air (it’s hygroscopic), and a little dust might get caught up with it. Across a whole room, though? You won’t notice any difference.
So what does a salt lamp do? It gives you a warm, gentle, lovely light. That’s the real product. And honestly, that’s why our customers keep reordering. People buy them because they love how they look and how they make a room feel. We’d rather you sell them for that reason too, because happy customers don’t send products back.
Salt Lamp Advantages That Actually Hold Up

Once you set the health claims aside, there are still plenty of real salt lamp advantages.
The light is easy on the eyes at night. Bright white or bluish light late in the evening can make it harder to wind down. A salt lamp gives off a warm amber glow instead. Turn off the ceiling light after dinner, switch the lamp on, and the whole room just feels calmer.
They make great night lights, too. A small one in a hallway, bathroom, or kid’s room lets you see where you’re going without waking you up completely.
And they look good. Every natural lamp is cut from raw rock, so no two are ever the same. That rough, earthy look fits beautifully with wooden furniture and houseplants. Customers really like knowing their lamp is one of a kind.
Even the placebo side has some value. If switching on the lamp becomes part of someone’s evening routine, with lights low and a book in hand, they’ll feel more relaxed. That feeling is real, even if the salt isn’t doing much.
Plus, they barely use any electricity. Small bulb, small bill.
Sizes
We stock lamps across the full range. Some weigh around 1 kg and sit neatly on a bedside table. Others are 10 kg giants that take two hands and a bit of back strength to lift.
A large rock salt lamp does give off more light since there’s more salt glowing. It’s still soft light, though. Even the largest one won’t replace a room’s main lighting.
Natural or Carved?

Our natural lamps are left close to how they came out of the ground: rough, uneven, with just the bottom flattened so they sit steady on a wooden base. These are our best sellers, and it’s easy to see why.
Carved lamps come in spheres, pyramids, hearts, cubes, and plenty of other shapes. They look tidier and suit modern shops and interiors. We also make basket lamps, where loose salt chunks sit in a metal bowl with a bulb underneath. These do really well in gift and décor stores.
There’s no right or wrong choice. A lot of our buyers stock a mix of both.
Finding the Right Lamp for Salt Lamp Setups
Most salt lamps take an E14 or E12 bulb, usually 15W or 25W incandescent. People don’t think about the bulb much, but it matters more than you’d expect. Incandescent bulbs give off a little warmth, and that warmth keeps the salt dry. LEDs run cool, so in a humid home, a lamp with an LED bulb tends to “sweat” more.
If you or your customers need a replacement lamp for salt lamp use, stick to the wattage we recommend. Going higher can overheat the base or the wiring.
Cords are the other thing to watch. Some cheap salt lamps have been pulled from shelves in the past because their cords and dimmer switches were a fire and shock risk. That’s exactly why we fit ours with [certified electrical components, e.g. CE / UL / UKCA], and we can match plug types and voltage to your country. We also sell spare bulbs, cords, and dimmers separately if you’d like to offer them alongside the lamps.
Why Buyers Work With Us
We’re close to the source, so you’re getting genuine Pakistani salt without layers of extra markup. We check every lamp for cracks, wobbles, finish, and wiring before it’s packed. We take orders from 40 pcs and all the way up to full containers, and we’re happy to send samples first so you can see and feel the quality yourself.
Need something specific? We do custom shapes and sizes, branded boxes and full private-label packaging. And everything is boxed individually and packed for export, so lamps reach you in one piece.
Looking After a Himalayan Salt Lamp
This is something you must surely tell your customers because it will definitely save them many “Is my lamp broken?” messages from coming in to you.
If it is salty, the salt will naturally take away moisture from the environment. Thus, a lamp might get damp a little or even leave a little puddle below. Totally safe, especially when you have very high humidity days, or it is monsoon.
You can avoid some issues just by getting into this habit or two. Put your lamps as far as you can from the bathroom; if there is high humidity, keep them away from a steamy kitchen and also open windows during heavy rains. If the house is wet and there is high humidity, you might run it for the longest amount of time, so the heat from the bulb can dry it up.
Put a coaster, plate or felt underneath if the table is delicate. In the case of stains, wipe with a slightly damp but wrung out cloth and then immediately dry the lamp. Don’t ever wash a lamp by putting it under a tap. If a lamp has been in the cupboard for a while and feels very damp.
A Quick Note About Pets
Cats and dogs sometimes lick salt lamps. Salt tastes good to them, after all. But too much salt can make pets seriously ill, so anyone with animals at home should keep the lamp up high or in a room pets can’t get into.
So, Is It Worth Stocking?
If your customers need better air quality or are suffering from allergic reactions, recommend a HEPA air cleaner. It will be far more effective.
But if they want some warm, natural light that will make a room look inviting and cosy even on chilly evenings, a Himalayan pink salt lamp will do a great job there. They are quite cheap, and with some proper care, they will last for years. Besides that, every single salt lamp that’s handmade will appear unique. This is probably why they are still a popular product.
The lamp is often referred to as a salt lamp, the rock lamp, or the rock salt lamp. Still, the one main reason why people buy such lamps is the way they illuminate a room and the feeling they inspire. We think that is a great reason that is why we can sell them so easily.
